Hwacheon H6

The Hwacheon H6 is a 50-taper horizontal machining center built around two 630 x 630 mm (24.8 x 24.8 in) pallets, each rated for 1,600 kgf (3,527 lb). Travels are 1,050 mm (41.3 in) on X, 900 mm (35.4 in) on Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) on Z, and the work envelope takes a part of Ø1,050 x 1,300 mm (Ø41.3 x 51.2 in). The pallet changer is standard: a servo-driven rotary type that swaps pallets in 12 s (180°), so the next part can be loaded while the current one is cut.

Two spindles share the same 35 / 22 kW (46.9 / 29.5 hp) rating and a Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) oil-jet lubricated bearing. The 8K runs to 8,000 rpm through a gear drive, which favours torque for steel and cast iron; the 12K runs to 12,000 rpm on a built-in motor for faster finishing and smaller tools. Both take BBT-50 tooling, with CAT-50 as an option.

The B axis turns through 360° with 0.001° indexing as standard, or 1° indexing as an option, and indexes 90° in 1.2 s. Rapids are 48 / 48 / 40 m/min (1,890 / 1,890 / 1,575 ipm). The table centre to spindle nose distance is 70 ~ 1,070 mm (2.8 ~ 42.1 in), and the table top to spindle centre 70 ~ 970 mm (2.8 ~ 38.2 in).

Tool storage scales a long way. The standard magazine holds 40 tools with fixed-address selection, with options of 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180. Tools can be Ø125 mm (Ø4.9 in) with adjacent pockets full, Ø300 mm (Ø11.8 in) with them empty, 550 mm (21.7 in) long and 30 kgf (66 lb). The Hwacheon H8 uses the same spindles and magazine options on 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in) pallets rated 2,200 kgf (4,850 lb), so the H6 is the choice when parts fit the smaller pallet. The H6 weighs 28,850 kgf (63,603 lb), occupies 7,170 x 4,040 mm (282.3 x 159.1 in) at 3,640 mm (143.3 in) high, needs 100 kVA, has a 1,200 L coolant tank and uses a Fanuc 31i-B control.
