Overview
The Huron AX MSY 300 is the largest and most complete AX turning centre. Its 36 kW main spindle is backed by a secondary spindle of 21.6 kW, and a 12-station live turret with ± 50 mm of Y works at both.
Unusually, the second spindle is strong enough for real cutting. It delivers 135 Nm at up to 5,000 rpm on an A2-6 nose with a 65 mm bore. On many lathes the pick-off spindle only supports finishing cuts, but 21.6 kW allows proper turning and drilling on the second side, so operations can be balanced between the two ends of the part.
The main spindle provides 385 Nm at up to 4,000 rpm through an A2-8 nose, with 75 mm of bore and 65 mm of bar capacity. Parts up to 420 mm (16.5 in) in diameter and 600 mm long fit the envelope, over a swing of 650 mm.
Tooling is BMT 55, driven at up to 4,000 rpm. Rapid feedrates are 24 m/min on X and Y and 30 m/min on Z. Huron positions the AX as a multitasking centre for production runs of engineering parts in the automotive and hydraulics industries. The table shows no tailstock for this version. Positioning is 0.005 mm on X and Z, and the footprint is 4,225 x 4,220 mm.
