Overview

The Hurco BX60i is the large machine of Hurco's BX family: 1,600 x 1,300 x 700 mm (62.99 x 51.18 x 27.56 in) of travel over a 1,900 x 1,300 mm (74.8 x 51.18 in) table that carries 6,000 kg (13,200 lb). The spindle is the BX high-speed unit, 20,000 rpm on an HSK-63A taper with 35 kW (47 hp) and 118.9 Nm (87.7 ft-lb). Hurco files the BX range with its 3-axis machining centers.

Scale is the difference from the BX50i, not cutting power. The spindle, the 30-tool magazine and the 1.5 sec tool change are the same on both. The BX60i adds travel on every axis and a table that takes three times the BX50i's 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), on a machine weighing 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) against 9,240 kg (20,371 lb). Y travel equals the 1,300 mm (51.18 in) table depth, so the full table area is reachable.

That combination, a very heavy and wide table with a fast, light spindle, points at large parts that need fine work rather than heavy stock removal: big mould plates, die sets, large aluminium plates and fixture plates. For roughing large steel parts Hurco's HBMx55i boring mill is the opposite approach, with a 2,500 rpm CAT 50 spindle giving 1,500 Nm (1,106.3 ft-lb).

Tools can be up to 80 mm (3.15 in) in diameter, 300 mm (11.8 in) long and 7 kg (15.4 lb), and spindle nose to table is listed at 180 mm (7.1 in). With 700 mm (27.56 in) of Z on top of that, tall parts and long tool stacks have room. A 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) machine needs rigging, access and a floor checked well before delivery.
