How much does the Hendrick HSR-R Series cost?

Price estimate

Uncertain

We do not have a price for the Hendrick HSR-R Series that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

Hendrick HSR-R Series — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hendrick HSR-R Series that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hendrick or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Hendrick HSR-R Series is a 3-axis CNC router with a stationary table and a moving gantry, and it is the fast one of the three Hendrick 3-axis lines: rapid traverse is 3,200 in/min (80 m/min) and cutting speed runs up to 800 in/min (20 m/min). Three standard tables are listed, 4 ft x 8 ft (1,300 x 2,500 mm), 5 ft x 10 ft (1,600 x 3,100 mm) and 6.5 ft x 12 ft (2,100 x 4,020 mm), with optional table lengths of 16 ft (5,000 mm) and 20 ft (6,000 mm).

X and Y are driven by precision ground helical rack and pinion and Z by a precision ball screw, all on THK LM linear guide ways. Z travel is 8 in (200 mm) as standard, and Hendrick offers custom Z travel. That 8 in figure is what decides whether thick foam, stacked sheet or a tall fixture fits under the gantry, so it is the number to settle first.

The standard head is an HSD HSK63-F high frequency spindle fed by an automatic tool changer, which Hendrick builds either as a rotary changer or as a linear rack. An HSD ISO30 spindle is the listed alternative. Automatic tool length measurement is standard, so a new cutter is measured by the machine instead of being touched off by hand. Hendrick does not print a spindle power or a tool count for this series, so both have to come from the quotation.

Workholding is a multi-zone vacuum table with pop-up location pins and a Becker vacuum pump. The control is an OSAI Open CNC on an industrial Windows PC with an Ethernet interface and a manual pulse generator for fine axis moves. For cabinet and panel work there is an optional multi boring unit with 9 vertical and 6 horizontal spindles on 32 mm centers plus a saw head; spray mist coolant is the option to add for aluminum.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Rapid traverse of 3,200 in/min (80 m/min), twice the 1,600 in/min (40 m/min) of the HLD-L Series
  • HSD HSK63-F high frequency spindle and an automatic tool changer (rack or rotary) are standard
  • Tables from 4 ft x 8 ft (1,300 x 2,500 mm) to 6.5 ft x 12 ft (2,100 x 4,020 mm), with optional lengths of 16 ft (5,000 mm) and 20 ft (6,000 mm)
  • Automatic tool length measurement is standard, so tool depth is entered by the machine
  • Helical rack and pinion on X and Y with a ball screw Z, on THK LM linear guide ways

Limitations

  • Standard Z travel is 8 in (200 mm); the 13 in (330 mm) of the HHD-R Series needs a custom Z here
  • Spindle power and tool changer capacity are not stated for the series
  • Spray mist coolant and the multi boring unit are options, not part of the standard machine
  • The moving gantry layout is the only one listed; a moving table is offered on the HHD-R Series

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What table sizes does the HSR-R Series come in?

Three standard tables: 4 ft x 8 ft (1,300 x 2,500 mm), 5 ft x 10 ft (1,600 x 3,100 mm) and 6.5 ft x 12 ft (2,100 x 4,020 mm). Hendrick also lists optional table lengths of 16 ft (5,000 mm) and 20 ft (6,000 mm).

02 How fast is the HSR-R Series?

Rapid traverse is 3,200 in/min (80 m/min) and cutting speed is up to 800 in/min (20 m/min). X and Y use precision ground helical rack and pinion, Z a precision ball screw, and all axes run on THK LM linear guide ways.

03 Which spindle and tool changer does it have?

An HSD HSK63-F high frequency spindle is standard and an HSD ISO30 spindle is listed as an option. The automatic tool changer is supplied as a multi-station rotary changer or as a linear rack. Hendrick does not state spindle power or the number of tool stations on its page for this series.

04 How is material held and located?

On a multi-zone vacuum table with a Becker vacuum pump, so zones can be switched to suit small or large parts. Pop-up location pins are standard for squaring a sheet against fixed stops before the vacuum is applied.

05 What control does the HSR-R Series use?

An OSAI Open CNC controller on an industrial Windows PC with a color LCD display, a program hard drive and a LAN-ready Ethernet interface. It runs standard G and M code and has a manual pulse generator for fine manual axis movements.
