Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford 5BC-529 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford 5BC-529 is the narrow five-metre model in the 5BC family of 5-axis double-column machining centers. X travel is 5,000 mm (196.9 in), Y is 2,900 mm (114.2 in), and the table is 5,000 x 2,200 mm (196.9 x 86.6 in) for 15,000 kg (33,069 lb).
Its proportions fit long, slender work. Wing ribs, floor beams, rail vehicle profiles and wind-turbine blade tooling run several metres in one direction and seldom more than two in the other. For those parts a wider gantry only adds moving mass, and the 5BC-529 keeps the crossbeam as short as the line offers.
The fork head carries a built-in spindle. In HSK-A63 form it runs 15,000 / 24,000 rpm on a 29.5 / 37 kW motor, with 30 / 37 kW optional. Hartford's cutting demonstration quotes a 15,000 rpm built-in spindle with 88.3 Nm. In HSK-A100 form the speed is 12,000 rpm and the motor 34 /43 kW.
Z travel is 1,000 mm, or 1,200 mm optional. Up to 60 tools are available with the A-type magazine, 32 or 40 otherwise. Spindles are oil-air lubricated, and Hartford states a 2-year spindle warranty without operation hours limit.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X travel on the shortest crossbeam of the line
- 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) table load
- HSK-A63 built-in spindle to 24,000 rpm for aluminium
- 2-year spindle warranty without operation hours limit, as stated by Hartford
- Supported X and Y ballscrews
Limitations
- Y travel of 2,900 mm (114.2 in) restricts side access on parts near the 2,200 mm table width
- Table width is 2,200 mm; the 5BC-538 offers 2,500 mm
- HSK-A63 tooling is limited to 7 kg per tool
- Rapid traverse rates over the five-metre axis are not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel 5,000 mm (196.9 in), Y travel 2,900 mm (114.2 in), Z travel 1,000 mm or optionally 1,200 mm, over a 5,000 x 2,200 mm (196.9 x 86.6 in) table rated for 15,000 kg (33,069 lb).
02
The cutting example on the page names a 15,000 rpm built-in spindle with 88.3 Nm. Motor ratings in the table are 29.5 / 37 kW (30 / 37 kW optional) for HSK-A63 and 34 /43 kW for HSK-A100.
03
The two share the table and X travel. The 5BC-534 has 3,400 mm (133.9 in) of Y travel where the 5BC-529 has 2,900 mm (114.2 in), which gives the tilted head more room beside the part. Pick the 5BC-529 when parts are well inside the table width.
04
32 or 40, or 60 with the A-type magazine. Tool weight is limited to 7 kg with HSK-A63 and 20 kg with HSK-A100.
