Gurutzpe GL 10 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Gurutzpe GL 10 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Gurutzpe or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Gurutzpe GL 10 is the smallest size of the GL flat-bed lathe: Ø 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of swing over the bed, Ø 700 mm (27.6 in) over the carriage, up to 8 m (26.2 ft) between centres and a part weight of 5 t (11,023 lb). Gurutzpe lists four GL sizes, and this one has the fastest headstock of them, with a speed range of 0-1,400 rpm.

That speed figure carries a footnote. Gurutzpe marks it as a peak speed for 10 minutes and gives the maximum continuous speed as 60% of peak, so long finishing passes on small diameters should be planned around the continuous figure, not the headline one. The power row reads 22/28 kW (29.5/37.5 hp) for S1/S6, followed by a second pair in square brackets, 28/34 kW (37.5/45.6 hp). The torque row is built the same way: 2.7/3.3 kNm (1,992/2,434 lb-ft), then 3.4/4.2 kNm (2,508/3,098 lb-ft) in brackets. The page does not say what the brackets stand for, so ask Gurutzpe which headstock a quotation is based on.

The bed is a monoblock casting with a V-shaped self-centring double guide, hardened and ground, plus a third support guide. Guiding is hydrodynamic. The carriages slide on Biplast material over an oil film fed by centralised lubrication, and the structure is stabilised GG30 cast iron.

Bar throughput is Ø 130 mm (5.1 in), and the GL 10 is the only size whose table gives a single part weight instead of a choice. A Y axis, a motorised head for milling and drilling, integrated measurement and an integral fairing are all named as possibilities or options. None of them belongs to the basic lathe, and the page states no figures for them.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Speed range of 0-1,400 rpm, the highest of the GL sizes, against 0-1,000 rpm on the GL 13
  • Up to 8 m (26.2 ft) between centres on a lathe with Ø 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of swing over the bed
  • Bar throughput of Ø 130 mm (5.1 in) through the headstock
  • Monoblock cast-iron bed with a V-shaped self-centring double guide, hardened and ground, and a third support guide
  • Can be equipped with a Y axis, and head motorization for milling and drilling is an option

Limitations

  • The 0-1,400 rpm figure is a peak speed for 10 minutes; Gurutzpe gives the maximum continuous speed as 60% of peak
  • Part weight is 5 t (11,023 lb) with no heavier version in the table; the GL 13 is listed at 6/10/12 t (13,228/22,046/26,455 lb)
  • Swing over the carriage is Ø 700 mm (27.6 in), well under the Ø 1,000 mm (39.4 in) over the bed, so long parts are limited to the smaller figure
  • The integral fairing, integrated measurement and head motorization are options, not part of the basic machine

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large a part does the Gurutzpe GL 10 take?

Swing over the bed is Ø 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and swing over the carriage is Ø 700 mm (27.6 in). The distance between centres is given as up to 8 m (26.2 ft), so the bed length is chosen per order. Part weight is 5 t (11,023 lb), and the bar throughput of the headstock is Ø 130 mm (5.1 in).

02 What do the two sets of power and torque figures mean?

Gurutzpe's table gives motor power as 22/28 kW (29.5/37.5 hp) for S1/S6 and then 28/34 kW (37.5/45.6 hp) in square brackets. Torque follows the same pattern: 2.7/3.3 kNm (1,992/2,434 lb-ft), then 3.4/4.2 kNm (2,508/3,098 lb-ft). The page does not explain the bracketed pair. Confirm with Gurutzpe whether it is an alternative headstock before comparing offers.

03 Can the GL 10 run at 1,400 rpm all day?

No. The speed range of 0-1,400 rpm carries a footnote: it is a peak speed for 10 minutes, and the maximum speed in continuous running is 60% of peak. Gurutzpe adds that other options are available on request, so say so early if the work needs high speed for long cuts.

04 How is the GL 10 guided?

It is a flat-bed lathe with hydrodynamic guiding. The monoblock cast-iron bed carries a V-shaped self-centring double guide, hardened and ground, with a third support guide. The carriages move on anti-vibration Biplast material over a small film of oil from the centralised lubrication. Gurutzpe describes the GL as its 2-guide system.

05 Can the GL 10 mill and drill as well as turn?

The basic machine is a turning lathe. Gurutzpe states that the GL machines can be equipped with a Y axis and offers head motorization as an option for milling and drilling. Integrated measurement is optional too. The page gives no power, speed or travel figures for these additions.
