Overview
The Gleason P 90 WM is a CNC gear cutting machine for producing cylindrical gears using the power skiving process. Gleason is the world leader in gear manufacturing technology, and the P 90 WM represents their latest generation of power skiving machines for high-volume production of spur and helical gears.
The P 90 WM handles workpieces up to 90 mm in diameter. Power skiving combines the speed of hobbing with the flexibility of shaping, enabling efficient production of internal and external gears, including gears that are difficult or impossible to hob due to interference with shoulders or adjacent gear meshes.
The machine features a direct-drive workpiece spindle capable of high-speed synchronization with the tool spindle. The tool spindle provides speeds up to 5,000 rpm. All axes use direct-drive motors for fast, precise motion without backlash.
The P 90 WM runs on Siemens 840D sl with Gleason-specific gear machining software. Automatic tool measurement and compensation are included. Machine weight is approximately 6,000 kg.
Power skiving on the P 90 WM can be 5-10x faster than gear shaping and handles both internal and external gears with the same machine. The P 90 WM competes with power skiving machines from Liebherr, MAG, and Pittler.
New machines price $400,000-$600,000. Used trade $200,000-$400,000.
