GF Machining Mikron MILL E 1200

The Mikron MILL E 1200 is the long-bed version of GF Machining Solutions' MILL E, with 1250 mm of X, 600 mm of Y and 600 mm of Z. Its T-slot table measures 1450 x 600 mm and is rated for 1500 kg, and feed is 40 m/min on all axes.

The 1450 mm table is longer than the 1250 mm X stroke, which is useful in practice. A vise or a rotary unit can sit at the table end outside the cutting zone, and long fixtures do not have to be cut down to fit. Compared with the Mikron MILL E 800, which has 850 mm of X, a 1050 x 600 mm table and 1000 kg, the MILL E 1200 keeps the same 600 mm of Y and Z, the same spindles and the same magazines, so the choice comes down to part length and weight.

The Mikron VCE 1400 Pro is the other long machine in the Mikron range, with 1400 x 600 x 675 mm, a 1400 x 620 mm table for 1700 kg and a feed of 32 m/min, with spindles to 16,000 rpm. The MILL E 1200 is shorter and carries less, but moves at 40 m/min and offers a 20,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle rated 120 Nm. The other spindle options are 12,000 rpm (ISO40 or BT40) and 16,000 rpm (HSK-A63, ISO40 or BT40). GF's series text puts its STEP TEC spindles at 16,000 to 20,000 rpm, so confirm the design of the 12,000 rpm unit.

The structure is cast iron, FEA-optimised, with pre-stressed ballscrews. Tools load into a DT 30 disc or CT 60 chain magazine during machining. Six adjustable coolant nozzles and two air blow-off nozzles are listed, and through-spindle coolant up to 70 bar is optional. GF says almost all options can be retrofitted.
