Overview

The Star SB-16D is a Swiss-type lathe for bar up to 16 mm (0.63 in), with 20 tool positions and rapid traverse of 35m/min on X, Y and Z. Its chucking diameter is also Ø16mm (5/8in), so a part can pass to the back end at full bar diameter.

Star's table for this model is short, and the tool count is the row that says the most. Twenty positions on a 16 mm machine leaves room to keep a standing set of turning and end-working tools mounted and still have spare positions for the job in hand, which shortens setups between related parts. The table does not divide the 20 positions between front and back tooling.

The same 35m/min rapid rate on all three listed axes is shared with the SB-16E. Spindle speeds, motor power, stroke and weight are not in the table and should be requested from Star for the exact configuration.
