Excetek ED400C CE — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Excetek ED400C CE that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Excetek or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Excetek lists the ED400C CE as a model of its own beside the ED400C, and the two tables are not copies of each other. The axis travels match: 400 mm (15.7 in) in X, 300 mm (11.8 in) in Y and 350 mm (13.8 in) in Z. Workpiece weight matches too, at 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Nearly everything else on the sheet is different.

Start with the electrode. The CE machine is rated for 100 kg (220 lb) at the head, where the ED400C is rated for 50 kg (110 lb). For large graphite electrodes or multi-cavity holders that is a real gain in what can be mounted. The work table is slightly narrower in X, 650 x 400 mm (25.6 x 15.7 in), and the workpiece envelope is given in three dimensions, 1,000 x 550 x 340 mm (39.4 x 21.7 x 13.4 in), which the ED400C page does not do.

The machine is also lighter and laid out differently on the floor. It weighs 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), and its outside dimensions with body, travel, tank and generator are 1,950 x 2,160 x 2,300 mm (76.8 x 85.0 x 90.6 in). Width is the dimension that shrinks most against the ED400C. The built-in oil filter tank holds the same 450 L but is served by two paper filters instead of three.

Nothing on the page explains the engineering behind those differences, so treat the CE version as a distinct build and compare the two tables row by row before ordering. Generator features are described in the same words for both: a MOSFET sparking circuit, modular front and back assembly with fuse protection, and separated heat flow. Options are an oil cooling system, a permanent magnetic pedestal and the tungsten carbide sparking circuit.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 100 kg (220 lb) maximum electrode weight, double the 50 kg (110 lb) of the ED400C
  • Workpiece envelope stated in full: 1,000 x 550 x 340 mm (39.4 x 21.7 x 13.4 in)
  • Outside dimensions of 1,950 x 2,160 x 2,300 mm (76.8 x 85.0 x 90.6 in) including tank and generator
  • Same 400 mm (15.7 in), 300 mm (11.8 in) and 350 mm (13.8 in) travels as the ED400C
  • Built-in 450 L oil filter tank

Limitations

  • Work table is 650 x 400 mm (25.6 x 15.7 in), against 700 x 400 mm on the ED400C
  • Two paper filters serve the 450 L tank; the ED400C has three
  • Machine weight is 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), less iron than the 2,800 kg (6,173 lb) ED400C
  • The page gives no explanation of what the CE build changes mechanically

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is the ED400C CE the same machine as the ED400C?

It shares the travels and the 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) workpiece weight, but Excetek gives it a separate table. The ED400C CE has a 650 x 400 mm (25.6 x 15.7 in) work table, a 100 kg (220 lb) electrode limit and a 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) machine weight. The ED400C has a 700 x 400 mm table, a 50 kg electrode limit and weighs 2,800 kg (6,173 lb).

02 What size of workpiece fits the ED400C CE?

The maximum workpiece size is 1,000 x 550 x 340 mm (39.4 x 21.7 x 13.4 in) and the maximum weight 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). The electrode reaches an area of 400 mm (15.7 in) by 300 mm (11.8 in) within that, with 350 mm (13.8 in) of Z travel.

03 How much space does the ED400C CE need?

Excetek gives 1,950 x 2,160 x 2,300 mm (76.8 x 85.0 x 90.6 in) for machine body, travel, tank and generator together. The oil filter tank is built in, so there is no second unit to position. Machine weight is 2,500 kg (5,511 lb).

04 What generator does the ED400C CE use?

The page describes a MOSFET sparking circuit aimed at low electrode wear and fast erosion, built as front and back modules with fuse protection on each circuit and separate heat flow for hot components and cold circuits. A tungsten carbide sparking circuit is available as an option.
