Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Durma AD-S 40400 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Durma or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Durma AD-S 40400 concentrates 400 ton on a 4,050 mm (159.4 in) bed. No other four-metre machine in the AD-S hydraulic press brake series is as strong, and several of its figures break with the rest of that group.

Start with the throat: 510 mm (20.1 in), found only on the two 400 ton models. Then the table, which stands 1,050 mm (41.3 in) above the floor. Operators will notice that height on small parts, and a platform may be needed. The columns are closer together than on the lighter four-metre machines, at 3,400 mm (133.9 in).

The back gauge is a heavier unit as well. Standard X travel is 750 mm (29.5 in), with 1,000 mm (39.4 in) optional, and it moves more slowly: 350 mm/sec on X and 300 mm/sec on R. The Z working distance is 2,670 mm (105.1 in).

Oil volume doubles against the AD-S 40320 to 500 L, on the same 37 kW (49.6 hp) motor rating. Speeds come down accordingly. Rapid is 140 mm/sec, return 120 mm/sec, and the working speed is 8 mm/sec. Stroke is 365 mm (14.4 in) and daylight 630 mm (24.8 in). The table is 154 mm (6.1 in) or 300 mm (11.8 in) wide.

At 27,760 kg (61,199 lb), 2,110 mm (83.1 in) wide and 3,640 mm (143.3 in) high, this machine has to be planned into the building. Transport, foundation and crane capacity should be settled with Durma at the quotation stage.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 400 ton on a 4,050 mm (159.4 in) bed, the strongest four-metre AD-S model
  • 510 mm (20.1 in) throat depth
  • Standard X travel of 750 mm (29.5 in)
  • 630 mm (24.8 in) of daylight with a 365 mm (14.4 in) stroke
  • 500 L oil tank for sustained heavy bending

Limitations

  • Table height of 1,050 mm (41.3 in)
  • Columns are 3,400 mm (133.9 in) apart, less than on the AD-S 40320
  • Working speed is 8 mm/sec and rapid speed 140 mm/sec
  • Back gauge X axis runs at 350 mm/sec
  • 27,760 kg (61,199 lb) and 3,640 mm (143.3 in) high

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What changes on the AD-S 40400 compared with the AD-S 40320?

More than the force. The AD-S 40400 has a 510 mm (20.1 in) throat, a 1,050 mm (41.3 in) table height, a 500 L tank and a standard X travel of 750 mm (29.5 in). The AD-S 40320 is faster, with 160 mm/sec in rapid, and weighs 20,000 kg (44,092 lb).

02 How fast is the AD-S 40400?

Durma lists 140 mm/sec for Y rapid, 8 mm/sec for working and 120 mm/sec for return. On thick plate the bend itself and the handling take most of the time, so the lower working speed has less effect than it would on sheet.

03 Why is the table of the AD-S 40400 higher?

Durma's table gives the height, 1,050 mm (41.3 in), without a reason. Ask Durma how the machine is installed and whether operators need a platform at that working height.

04 What does the AD-S 40400 require from the building?

It weighs approximately 27,760 kg (61,199 lb) and measures 5,750 mm (226.4 in) by 2,110 mm (83.1 in), with a height of 3,640 mm (143.3 in). Motor power is 37 kW (49.6 hp).
