Citizen Miyano BNE-51SY6

The Citizen Miyano BNE-51SY6 is the most capable of the four BNE 42 and 51 models: 51 mm dia. bar on the main spindle, a 42 mm dia. second spindle, two 12-station turrets and a Y axis of ±40 mm on HD1. It weighs 7,800 kg and is aimed at larger turned parts that also need milled features.

It combines the two upgrades the range offers separately. The Miyano BNE-51S6 has the larger SP1 but no Y; the Miyano BNE-42SY6 has the Y axis but stops at 42 mm dia. Here SP1 holds 51 mm stock in a 6" hydraulic chuck and runs to 5,000 rpm on a 15/11 kW motor, while HD1 can mill flats, slots and off-centre holes in the same setup.

One kind of part that fits it well is a hydraulic or pneumatic body turned from 51 mm bar with ports drilled off the axis. The front end and its Y features are done on SP1 with HD1 (X1 175 mm, Z1 380 mm, Y ±40 mm). After cut-off the part moves to SP2, which grips sections up to 42 mm dia. in a 5" chuck and turns at 5,000 rpm on 5.5/3.7 kW, while HD2 (X2 145 mm, Z2 175 mm) works the back. With the back spindle travelling 450 mm, there is room to reach deep into the part.

Revolving tools can occupy every station, 12+12, with 20 mm Sq. turning tools and 25 mm dia. tool holes. Standard turning length on SP1 is 90 mm. The frame is the same 2,690×2,160 mm by 1,925 mm high as the other 42 and 51 mm BNE models.
