Citizen Miyano BNE-42S6

The Citizen Miyano BNE-42S6 is a twin-spindle, twin-turret fixed-headstock lathe for bar work up to 42 mm dia., and with its Y-axis version it is one of the two BNE models whose second spindle matches the first: SP1 and SP2 both take 42 mm dia. and both carry a 5" hydraulic power chuck. SP1 runs to 6,000 rpm, SP2 to 5,000 rpm.

That symmetry is the reason to pick it. A part can be cut off, picked up by SP2 and gripped on a section as large as the bar itself, so back-end features are not limited by a smaller second chuck. On the Miyano BNE-51S6, by contrast, SP1 grows to 51 mm dia. while SP2 stays at 42 mm dia.

The machine has no Y-axis row in its table. HD1 and HD2 are both 12St. turrets with revolving tools on every station (12+12), so cross holes and face drilling on centre are covered, but off-centre milling and flats are a job for the Miyano BNE-42SY6, which adds ±40 mm of Y on HD1. HD1 strokes are 175 mm in X1 and 380 mm in Z1; HD2 has 145 mm in X2 and 175 mm in Z2. The back spindle travels 450 mm.

Spindle motors are listed at 15/11 kW for SP1 and 5.5/3.7 kW for SP2, so the main spindle carries the heavy turning and SP2 is meant for finishing the cut-off end. Standard turning length on SP1 is 90 mm. Plan for a floor space of 2,690×2,160 mm, a height of 1,925 mm and 7,600 kg on the foundation.
