Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier FBL-250Y that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier FBL-250Y is the tailstock version of Chevalier's box-way Y-axis turning center. It turns up to 18.1 in (Ø460 mm) in diameter and 22 in (558 mm) in length, takes a chuck of 8 in or 10 in, and supports the free end of the work on a servo tailstock that travels 25.6 in (650 mm).
The chuck choice is one of the few rows where this model differs from the FBL-250SY, which lists the 8 in chuck alone. A 10 in (254 mm) chuck makes better use of the 18.1 in cutting diameter for disc and flange work, while the spindle behind it stays the same: 4,500 rpm, A2-6 ASA nose, 3.0 in (77 mm) bore and 2.5 in (65 mm) bar capacity. Chevalier names a belt-driven main spindle with a FANUC motor.
The tailstock quill is 3.3 in (85 mm) in diameter with an MT5 taper and 4 in (100 mm) of travel. Because the tailstock body is servo driven, it can be positioned by the program for parts of different lengths. The turret is a 12-station Power BMT60 with live tools, and the Y axis lets it mill keyways and flats on a shaft held between centres.
Feed rates are 945 / 394 / 945 ipm (24 / 10 / 24 m/min) in X, Y and Z on a dual 30-degree slant bed with box ways. The machine weighs 12,566 lb (5,700 kg) and occupies 119.1 in x 74.2 in x 75.3 in. The control is a Fanuc 0i-T. As on its sibling, the maker's travel row is not usable as printed.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The chuck size row reads 8 in / 10 in (203 mm / 254 mm). The spindle nose is A2-6 ASA, the bore 3.0 in (77 mm) and the maximum bar capacity 2.5 in (65 mm).
02
A servo-driven tailstock with 25.6 in (650 mm) of travel. The quill is 3.3 in (85 mm) in diameter, has an MT5 taper and travels 4 in (100 mm).
03
The FBL-250Y runs to 4,500 rpm with an A2-6 ASA nose and 2.5 in (65 mm) bar capacity. The FBL-320Y runs to 3,500 rpm with an A2-8 nose, a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 3 in (77 mm) bar capacity, and weighs 14,330 lb (6,500 kg) against 12,566 lb (5,700 kg).
