Overview

A punching head and a fiber laser share one sheet on the Boschert CombiLaserEVO. The machine comes in three working areas, 2,080 x 1,060 mm, 2,580 x 1,310 mm and 3,080 x 1,560 mm, and with a laser of 1000 W, 2000 W, 3000 W or 4000 W.

The cutting ranges show what the extra laser power buys. Steel is listed at 10 mm for every source. Stainless goes from 5 mm at 1000 W to 8 mm at 2000 W and 10 mm at 3000 W. Aluminum climbs from 3 mm through 6 mm and 8 mm to 10 mm at 4000 W. A shop cutting mostly mild steel gains thickness from none of the upgrades, while one working in stainless or aluminum does.

On the punching side the machine is offered with different heads. The table counts 1 tool station on the CombiLaser Compact, 2 on the TWIN, 3 on the TRI and 8 on the Multipunch, with 8, 16, 24 and 64 as the maximum with Revotool. Punch diameter is 105 mm, or 76 mm on the Multipunch version. Both axes position at 60 m/min, 85 m/min together.

Accuracy differs by process, and that should steer how a part is programmed. Punching is given a positioning difference of +/- 0.1 mm. Lasered contours carry a positional deviation of +/- 0.20 mm and the same figure for average repeatability, so features that locate other parts are better punched. The smallest machine measures 7,000 x 5,900 x 2,100 mm and weighs 14,500 kg; the largest weighs 17,400 kg.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Punching and fiber laser cutting on one machine and in one clamping
  • Laser sources of 1000 W, 2000 W, 3000 W or 4000 W
  • Up to 64 tools with Revotool on the Multipunch version, which has 8 tool stations
  • X and Y position at 60 m/min, 85 m/min simultaneously
  • Steel cutting range of 10 mm with every laser source

Limitations

  • Lasered contours are held to +/- 0.20 mm, looser than the +/- 0.1 mm of punching
  • The 1000 W source is listed for 5 mm stainless and 3 mm aluminum
  • Punch diameter drops to 76 mm on the Multipunch version
  • Even the smallest machine weighs 14,500 kg and needs 7,000 x 5,900 mm of floor

Best For

Parts that mix punched holes and forms with lasered outer contours Enclosure and control cabinet manufacturing Small and large batches where one clamping replaces two machines

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What can the laser of the CombiLaserEVO cut?

Steel is listed at 10 mm for all four sources. Stainless is 5 mm at 1000 W, 8 mm at 2000 W and 10 mm at 3000 W and 4000 W. Aluminum is 3 mm at 1000 W, 6 mm at 2000 W, 8 mm at 3000 W and 10 mm at 4000 W.

02 How many punching tools does the CombiLaserEVO hold?

That depends on the head. The table lists 1 tool station on the CombiLaser Compact, 2 on the TWIN, 3 on the TRI and 8 on the Multipunch. With Revotool the maximum number of tools is 8, 16, 24 and 64 in the same order.

03 What sizes does the CombiLaserEVO come in?

Three working areas: 2,080 x 1,060 mm, 2,580 x 1,310 mm and 3,080 x 1,560 mm. The machines measure 7,000 x 5,900 x 2,100 mm, 8,000 x 6,500 x 2,110 mm and 9,000 x 7,100 x 2,110 mm, and weigh 14,500 kg, 16,300 kg and 17,400 kg.

04 Why combine punching and laser cutting on one machine?

Boschert's argument is that punching is extremely fast for standard holes, forms, embossing and repetitive geometries, while laser cutting produces intricate contours and complex shapes without dedicated tooling. Doing both on the CombiLaserEVO removes the handling between two machines.
