Overview
The Amada WINSTAR is an ultra-high-precision CNC forming grinder designed for large-format tooling applications. As the largest machine in Amada’s WINSTAR lineup, it features a generous 600 x 300 x 100 mm workpiece capacity -- significantly larger than any MEISTER model -- for grinding larger forming tools, die sets, and precision components.
The WINSTAR features simultaneous 2-axis plus 1-axis NC control with axis travels of 780 mm (traverse), 340 mm (cross), and 450 mm (vertical). The 3.7 kW wheel spindle drives larger grinding wheels up to 255 x 6.4-25 x 50.8 mm -- the 50.8 mm bore accommodates heavier wheel assemblies than the 31.75 mm bore on MEISTER and WINSTAR SP models.
The extended travels and larger workpiece capacity position the WINSTAR for applications that smaller forming grinders cannot reach -- wide die blocks, large forming tools, and precision plates. Despite its larger size, the WINSTAR maintains ultra-high-precision positioning and surface finish capabilities.
New WINSTAR systems typically price between $320,000 and $480,000.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
WINSTAR has larger capacity (600 x 300 mm vs 500 x 200 mm), longer traverse (780 vs 600 mm), and larger wheel bore (50.8 vs 31.75 mm). Both share 3.7 kW spindle.
02
The 2-inch bore accommodates heavier, more rigid wheel assemblies for better stability at aggressive feed rates on wider workpieces.
03
Max chuck 600 x 300 x 100 mm with 780 x 340 x 450 mm axis travels. Covers most large forming tools and die blocks.
04
No published ATC or workpiece stocker options. For automated forming grinding consider the MEISTER 52UP.
