Price estimate
We do not have a price for the STV CNC SparX 505 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With a 5 ft x 5 ft cutting envelope, the STV CNC SparX 505 is the square table for shops that buy 5 ft wide sheet. It is the bolt-together table in the STV CNC range, shipped in crates and assembled on site. The extra foot of width over the smaller square table is what lets a 5 x 10 sheet be cut once across the middle and loaded as two halves, with nothing trimmed off the width.
STV CNC supplies this series as a kit of bolted parts: an open modular frame with leg brace supports, an assembled extruded aluminum gantry, and bolt-on water pans 3 in deep that the owner seals with waterproof silicone. The manual puts assembly at 4 to 5 hours. Once together, the table is rated for 1.5 in steel plate and gives 5.5 in of Z travel on a precision ground ball lead screw. Motion comes from four NEMA stepper motors coupled 1:1, running rack and pinion along linear guides on gantry and table alike. A 3:1 gear reduction system exists as a later upgrade for smoother motion; the base table does not have it.
The table takes up about 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft. Its water pan holds about 69 gallons. Because the envelope is as deep as it is wide, a part can be nested in either direction, and remnants from larger jobs elsewhere in the shop usually fit without trimming. What it will not do is take a long part: anything over 5 ft has to be cut in two setups or sent to a longer table.
MyPlasmCNC is the control, and STV CNC itself calls it the basic system for beginners. It is a download that runs on a Windows PC the buyer provides, linked to the control box by USB, and it opens .dxf, .plt and .tap files. Torch height control, a magnetic breakaway, a collision switch and ohmic material sensing come with the base table, so a tip-up or a missed pierce does not have to end in a bent torch. The plasma cutter is bought separately.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Torch height control, magnetic breakaway, collision switch and ohmic sensing are included on the base table
- Arrives in crates, so it can go through a standard door and be built where it will stand
- Runs wet or dry on interchangeable 1.5 in flat bar slats
- 5 ft x 5 ft envelope accepts half of a 5 x 10 sheet with no width trimmed
Limitations
- Assembly is required, and the bolt-on water pans have to be sealed with silicone by the owner
- MyPlasmCNC is described by the maker as a basic control and needs a customer-supplied Windows PC
- Parts longer than 5 ft need a second setup or a longer table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Width. The 5 ft x 5 ft envelope takes 5 ft wide stock, so a 5 x 10 sheet cut once across yields two loads with no waste strip. The price is floor space: about 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft, and a water pan of about 69 gallons.
02
MyPlasmCNC, a downloadable program that needs a Windows PC and connects to the control box over USB. It works with .dxf, .plt, .tap, .2d and .hpgl files. STV CNC describes it as the basic control system for beginners.
03
STV CNC rates the table to hold steel plate up to 1.5 in thick on its interchangeable 1.5 in flat bar slats. What can actually be cut depends on the plasma cutter, which is sold separately; the table has 5.5 in of Z travel.
04
Four NEMA stepper motors in a 1:1 ratio direct drive, moving the gantry and table by standard rack and pinion on a standard linear guide assembly. The Z axis uses a precision ground billet ball lead screw. A 3:1 ratio gear reduction system is offered by STV CNC as an upgrade and is not fitted to the base table.
