Overview

The Starrag Dorries VC Series is a family of double-column (portal design) vertical turning lathes for the largest and heaviest rotation-symmetric components in power generation, marine, mining, and heavy industrial applications. Scales from VC 3500 to VC 12000 with workpiece weights up to 350,000 kg (771,618 lb).

Table diameters range from 3,000-3,500 mm up to 9,000-10,000 mm. Main drive 120-300 kW (S1 continuous). Portal design provides rigidity for machining workpieces weighing hundreds of tonnes. Cast iron construction for damping and thermal stability.

Supports drilling, milling, and grinding beyond turning. Siemens SINUMERIK ONE control (latest generation) with digital twin support and Industry 4.0.

New machines: $3,000,000 to $20,000,000+.
