Overview
With the Mazak MEGA TURN 600, the series steps up to Ø25 in (635 mm) of turning diameter and 1,543 lb (700 kg) of table load without lengthening either axis. X travel is 14 in (356 mm) and Z travel is 20 in (508 mm), exactly as on the MEGA TURN 500, and both machines rapid at 1,181 ipm (30 m/min).
What changes is the spindle. Top speed drops to 2,200 rpm, where the MEGA TURN 500 reaches 3,000 rpm, and torque is 738 ft-lb (1,001 Nm) at a 15%ED rating. Power is 22 kW (30 HP) continuous and 30 kW (40 HP) (40% ED). The lower ceiling costs little at the rim of a part this size, because a large diameter reaches its cutting speed at modest rpm. It shows on small bores and at the centre of a face, where surface speed falls away.
Mazak's series page gives this model group a maximum machining diameter of 23.62 in to 24.8 in. The turning-only model sits at the top of that range, while the MEGA TURN 600M, the milling version, is listed at Ø24 in (610 mm). If the last inch of diameter decides the job, that is the reason to stay with this model.
The next size is a much bigger machine. The Mega Turn 900 turns Ø36 in (914 mm), carries 6,614 lb (3,000 kg) and has 19 in (483 mm) of X and 34 in (864 mm) of Z, at 30,864 lb (14,000 kg) against the 21,605 lb (9,800 kg) of this one. A part that outgrows the 20 in (508 mm) of Z travel here has no step in between.

For the outer diameters, yes: large diameters need little spindle speed to reach a given cutting speed. The limit is felt on small bores and when facing toward the centre, where the surface speed drops with the diameter. If most of the work is small-diameter boring, the 3,000 rpm of the MEGA TURN 500 is the better fit.
