Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX e-H series is the heavy-duty horizontal multi-tasking platform for large workpieces exceeding i-Series capacity. Three sizes: e-500H (15-21 inch chuck, 820 mm/32.28 in max diameter), e-670H (18-32 inch chuck, 1,070 mm/42.13 in), and e-800H (24-50 inch chuck, 1,300 mm/51.18 in).

Y-axis travels scale with size: 500 mm (19.69 in) on e-500H, 670 mm (26.38 in) on e-670H, and 800 mm (31.5 in) on e-800H. The orthogonal B-axis design provides large machining envelopes. All feature integrated long boring bar systems with automatic head changing, storing 2-4 boring bar assemblies with lengths up to 1,500 mm (59.06 in).

Built-in motor spindles with temperature-controlled cooling ensure thermal stability. MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield runs all models. The -S variants add a second spindle on the e-500H and e-670H. These machines compete with WFL Millturn, large Okuma Multus, and DMG Mori NTX models.

New machines range from $550,000 (e-500H) to over $1.5 million (loaded e-800H). Capital-intensive machines for high-value aerospace, energy, and defense. Specs sourced from Mazak published data.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Three sizes covering 15 to 50-inch chuck for the largest multi-tasking applications
  • Integrated long boring bar system eliminates need for dedicated horizontal boring mill
  • Y-axis up to 800 mm (31.5 in) on e-800H provides exceptional off-center reach
  • Built-in motor spindles with temperature-controlled cooling for long-cycle accuracy
  • Orthogonal B-axis delivers large interference-free machining envelope
  • MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield for consistent accuracy
  • The -S variants enable done-in-one on large workpieces with second spindle

Limitations

  • $550K to over $1.5M requires exceptional work volume and part value
  • Machine weights 28,000-60,000+ kg demand reinforced foundations
  • Programming complexity is extreme; dedicated programmers and custom posts needed
  • Main spindle speeds below 3,500 RPM on larger models
  • Service costs $15K-$30K annually at $250+/hour Mazak rates

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does an e-H cost?

e-500H starts around $550K. e-670H $750K-$1M. e-800H starts above $1M, can exceed $1.5M loaded. Typically financed over 5-7 years.

02 What is the boring bar system?

Dedicated storage and automatic changing for long boring tools up to 1,500 mm. Enables deep ID machining without transferring to a separate boring mill, saving hours of setup per part.

03 Which model to choose?

Match to largest regular workpiece: e-500H for up to 32 inch diameter, e-670H up to 42 inch, e-800H up to 51 inch. Consider both max diameter and typical part weight.

04 e-H vs horizontal boring mill?

e-H adds full turning capability and done-in-one processing. Boring mill is cheaper if you only need boring/milling without turning. e-H pays off when parts need both turning and milling/boring.

05 Lead times?

9-18 months typically. Larger e-800H can take over a year. Used e-H machines are uncommon due to small installed base.
