Overview

The Nakamura-Tome Super NTJ is a twin-spindle mill-turn machine with a 182-degree swiveling B-axis turret bridging the gap between conventional twin-turret turning and full B-axis multitasking. The B-axis swivel enables angled holes, compound surfaces, and off-axis milling standard fixed turrets cannot produce.

Left spindle: 15/11 kW at 4,500 RPM, 65 mm bar. Right sub-spindle: 11/7.5 kW at 5,000 RPM, 51 mm bar (optional). Both accept 6-inch chucks (8-inch optional). Y-axis 90 mm, milling at 6,000 RPM with 5.5/3.7 kW. Up to 48 tools.

Max turning diameter 190 mm, 620 mm length. Distance 210-970 mm. Compact 3,660 x 2,320 mm. Fanuc 31i-B5. New machines $300,000-$450,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Cost?

Start $300,000. With right sub-spindle, Y-axis, bar feeder: $375,000-$450,000.

02 Super NTJ vs NTJX?

NTJX adds dedicated B-axis milling spindle for five-channel machining. Super NTJ uses swiveling turret -- simpler, more affordable.

03 B-axis turret swivel?

Upper turret rotates 182 degrees for compound-angle tool approach.

04 Bar feeder?

Yes, 65 mm bar through left spindle for lights-out production.
