Honor Seiki VL-125CM

Sixteen tool positions and a live spindle set the Honor Seiki VL-125CM apart from the VL-125C. The table gives it a 50-2,250 rpm live spindle, 16 positions where the C has 12, and a turning height of 1,170 mm (46.0 in). Swing and turning diameter are 1,600 mm (63.0 in) and the workpiece limit is 5,000 kg (11,023 lb).

On the smaller Heavy Duty machines the CM and C columns share one tool count. From the VL-125 upward the CM gains four positions, which makes sense once turning tools and driven tools have to share a carrier: a milling job eats positions fast, with spot drills, drills, taps and end mills on top of the roughing and finishing inserts. The page does not say how the 16 are split between fixed and driven tooling.

There is a small cost in height. The VL-125C turns 1,200 mm (47.2 in) tall, so the CM gives up a little at the top of the envelope. For most parts that will not matter, but a workpiece close to the limit should be checked against the CM figure and not the C figure.

The cabinet air conditioner, an option on the C models, is noted on the page as standard for the CM series. The splash guard is top open for crane loading, and a table with manual 4-jaw chuck is the standard workholding. Live spindle power, torque and taper are not given. Options include a dual speed gearbox for the live tool spindle, high pressure coolant through the tool holder, a grinding function, a higher column and a Siemens controller.
