Overview
The GF Machining Solutions AgieCharmilles CUT S 600 is the mid-range model in the CUT S performance series, stepping up from the CUT S 400 with significantly larger X/Y/Z travels of 605 x 405 x 356 mm and U/V travel of 700 x 450 mm. The increased Z travel of 356 mm (vs 256 mm on the 400) is particularly significant — enabling taller workpieces and deeper cuts that are common in large progressive die sections and thick mold plates.
The CUT S 600 supports wire diameters from 0.05 to 0.30 mm with the same Ra 0.08 micrometers surface finish capability as the entire CUT S family. Maximum workpiece weight capacity of 1,500 kg handles the heaviest die blocks and mold bases encountered in production die and mold shops. Taper capability of +/-30 degrees over 356 mm height, with optional 45-degree capacity, covers virtually all stamping die clearance and extrusion die taper requirements.
The UNIQUA HMI provides modern touchscreen control with integrated technology databases, automatic parameter selection, and collision protection. The 605 mm X travel opens the machine to larger progressive die sections, automotive body panel tooling, and medium-format aerospace structural components that cannot fit in the CUT S 400 envelope.
With machine dimensions of 2,200 x 3,500 x 2,490 mm, the CUT S 600 occupies a moderate production footprint while delivering the work envelope of a large-format wire EDM. This positions it as the workhorse of the CUT S family for shops handling a mix of medium and large workpieces.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 605 x 405 mm X/Y travel handles large progressive die sections and thick mold plates
- 356 mm Z travel enables taller workpieces and deeper cuts than the CUT S 400 (256 mm Z)
- 1,500 kg workpiece weight capacity accommodates the heaviest production die blocks
- Ra 0.08 micrometers surface finish with multi-pass skim cut technology
- Ultra-fine 0.05 mm wire capability for micro-detail features on large workpieces
- UNIQUA HMI with integrated collision protection and technology databases
Limitations
- Larger footprint (2,200 x 3,500 mm) requires more floor space than the CUT S 400
- At $200K-$320K, significant step up from the CUT S 400 for the additional envelope
- Lacks the CUT X series AI-driven discharge optimization
- 1,500 kg rated capacity may still be limiting for the largest stamping die blocks

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The CUT S 600 has 49% more X travel (605 vs 405 mm), 29% more Y travel (405 vs 315 mm), 39% more Z travel (356 vs 256 mm), and 50% more workpiece weight capacity (1,500 vs 1,000 kg). Both share the same wire diameter range, surface finish capability, UNIQUA control, and taper specifications. Choose the 600 when workpiece size or weight exceeds the 400's capacity.
02
The CUT S 600's 356 mm Z travel (vs 256 mm on the 400) enables cutting taller workpieces and making deeper cuts — critical for thick progressive die sections, tall mold inserts, and heavy steel blocks. The 100 mm additional Z often determines whether a part can be cut in a single setup.
03
Yes. The 605 x 405 mm X/Y travel, 356 mm Z travel, 1,500 kg capacity, and +/-30 deg taper (45 deg optional) cover most automotive stamping die wire EDM requirements — die section profiles, clearance angles, and insert pockets.
04
Ra 0.08 micrometers best surface finish with multi-pass skim cuts — identical to all CUT S family members. The larger work envelope does not compromise finish capability.
