DN Solutions NHC 4000

The DN Solutions NHC 4000 is a compact horizontal machining center with 600 mm (24 in) of X travel, 560 mm (22 in) of Y and 565 mm (22 in) of Z, a 400 kg (882 lb) pallet load and rapids that reach 48 m/min (1,890 ipm). DN's table gives the pallet as 400 × 400 without a unit; the HC 400 II, which has identical travels, is listed with a 400 × 400 mm (16 × 16 in) pallet.

Two things set the NHC 4000 apart in the table: axis speed and the choice of spindles. X and Z move at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) and Y at 40 m/min (1,575 ipm). On short-cycle parts, where the spindle spends much of its time moving between features and faces, those rapids count for more than cutting power.

The standard spindle is an 8,000 rpm unit with 18.5/11 kW (24.8/14.7 hp) and 353.4 N·m (261 ft-lb). The options are 12,000 and 15,000 rpm, and the table shows an optional torque figure of 117 N·m (86.3 ft-lb), about a third of the standard value. It does not say which optional speed that torque belongs to. The pattern is still clear enough to plan around: the standard spindle is the one for steel and iron, and a high-speed option gives up most of the low-end torque in exchange for rpm suited to aluminium and small tools. Settle the spindle choice before ordering. The table gives no spindle taper for this model.

Tool capacity is 40 as standard, with 60 to 262 as options. The machine weighs 11,000 kg (24,251 lb) and is listed at 5,356 × 2,259 mm (211 × 89 in) in length and width and 2,573 mm (101 in) in height.
