Machine Comparison

Citizen Miyano ABX-65SYY vs Citizen Miyano ABX-65THY

Citizen Machinery vs Citizen Machinery · CNC Lathes

01

Summary

The ABX-65SYY and the ABX-65THY are two versions of the same Citizen Miyano twin-spindle turning center. They share the 65 mm bar capacity, 300 mm chuck-work diameter, 200 mm turning length, 4,500 RPM main and sub-spindles, 18.5 / 15 kW spindle motors, 6,000 RPM live tools and 80 mm (+/- 40 mm) of Y travel.

The difference is the number of turrets. The SYY has two turrets with 12 per turret (24 total) and a dual-path control; the THY adds a third turret for 36 tools in total, 13+ axes against 10, and a multi-path Mitsubishi M80W. The THY weighs 11,300kg against 10,900kg, on almost the same 3,290×2,204mm footprint.

Advantages

Citizen Miyano ABX-65SYY

  • Two turrets and 24 tools cover most twin-spindle parts with simpler programming
  • 10-axis dual-path control is easier to balance than three paths
  • Slightly lighter at 10,900kg

Citizen Miyano ABX-65THY

  • Third turret raises tool capacity from 24 to 36
  • 13+ axes allow three tools to cut at once on complex parts
  • Same 65 mm bar capacity and 4,500 RPM spindles as the SYY

Verdict

Both machines take the same parts; the THY just finishes them in fewer seconds by putting a third turret in the cut. It pays off on high-volume, feature-heavy work where cycle time drives cost. For mixed work or shorter runs, the two-turret SYY delivers the same capacity with simpler programming.
