Overview
The Citizen Miyano ABX-64SYY2 is the large-bar, two-turret version of Citizen's ABX twin-spindle turning centres: 64 mm (2.52 in) bar capacity through a 65.5 mm (2.58 in) spindle bore, a 4,000 rpm main spindle on 15/11 kW, a 5,000 rpm sub-spindle on 7.5/5.5 kW and a tool capacity of 24. It is not in Citizen's current lineup, so it will usually be found as a used machine.
The bar size is the reason to choose it. The Miyano ABX-51SYY2 on the same frame takes 51 mm (2.01 in) bar through a 52 mm (2.05 in) bore and runs its main spindle to 5,000 rpm, so the 64 version gives up top speed for larger stock. For parts between those two bar sizes, that is the difference between running from bar and sawing blanks. The maximum machining length is 118 mm (4.65 in).
Both turrets carry driven tools, rated at 6,000 rpm and 40 Nm maximum on an AC 4.5 kW revolving tool motor, and the rapids are 16 m/min on X, 30 m/min on Z and 12 m/min on Y. Turning tools have 20 mm square shanks and boring holders fit 25 mm or 40 mm holes; the turret indexes in 0.25 sec per position. Drilling is listed to 20 and tapping to M14x2.
The Miyano ABX-64THY2 adds a third turret and takes 36 tools at 11,350 kg (25,022 lb). This two-turret machine weighs 10,900 kg (24,030 lb) on a 3,290 × 2,204 mm (130 × 86.8 in) footprint, carries 400 L of coolant and runs a FANUC 31i-B control.
