Overview
The Citizen Miyano ABX-51THY2 is a 51 mm (2.01 in) twin-spindle turning centre with three turrets and room for 36 tools, all of which may be revolving tools. Main spindle and sub-spindle each run to 5,000 rpm, each takes a 165 mm (6.50 in) power chuck, and each handles a maximum work length of 125 mm (4.92 in). It is not part of Citizen's current lineup.
Thirty-six tools is a lot of capacity for parts of this size. It means a family of similar parts can stay tooled up together, and a part that needs turning, cross drilling, milled flats and threading on both ends can be finished without sharing positions. Each turret indexes in 0.25 sec per position, the revolving tools run to 6,000 rpm with 40 Nm maximum from an AC 4.5 kW motor, and turning tools use 20 mm square shanks.
The Miyano ABX-51SYY2 is the two-turret version, with 24 tools, a 30 m/min Z rapid and a weight of 10,900 kg (24,030 lb). On this three-turret machine Z moves at 20 m/min, X at 16 m/min and Y at 12 m/min. The control is a FANUC 31i-B with 128 KB of storage, or 250 programs, double the 64 KB the two-turret version lists.
