Bystronic Xpert 250

The Bystronic Xpert 250 is a 250-tonne CNC hydraulic press brake with a 3,050 mm bending length, representing the mid-upper segment of Bystronic's Xpert series and engineered for high-mix fabrication environments that demand consistent angular accuracy across a wide range of material types and thicknesses. Manufactured in Niederönz, Switzerland, the Xpert 250 embodies Bystronic's philosophy of intelligent bending — integrating adaptive angle measurement, automated material compensation, and a sophisticated CNC platform to deliver first-part-correct results with minimal operator intervention.

The defining feature of the Xpert series is Bystronic's BSAce adaptive bending system, available on the Xpert 250. BSAce uses a high-resolution optical sensor system mounted on the ram to measure the actual bend angle dynamically during the forming stroke. The system compares the real-time angle to the programmed target and adjusts punch penetration depth in the same stroke — without stopping, retracting, or requiring operator measurement — to achieve precise angular results regardless of material springback, thickness variation within tolerance, or batch-to-batch hardness differences. On high-mix operations where material certificates may vary, BSAce eliminates the first-article iteration that would otherwise consume machine time and raw material.

The Xpert 250's hydraulic system uses Bystronic's proven electro-hydraulic proportional valve technology with an independent servo-controlled circuit on each cylinder. Ram parallelism is maintained to within ±0.01 mm across the 3,050 mm bed through closed-loop position feedback from linear encoders on both cylinders. The approach speed of 200 mm/s and bending speed down to 1 mm/s are continuously variable, allowing the operator to balance cycle time and surface quality requirements for each material. Return speed reaches 180 mm/s to minimize non-bending time in high-cycle applications.

The back gauge system is a 6-axis servo configuration as standard, providing X-axis depth positioning, R-axis beam height, and independent Z1/Z2 depth control for tapered and asymmetric bending references. Back gauge travel of 700 mm in X accommodates the full range of standard flange depths from sheet metal to structural profiles. Bystronic's ByVision Bending CNC provides a 21-inch multi-touch graphical interface with integrated 3D part simulation, automatic bend sequence calculation, and real-time tooling collision checking. Programs can be created directly at the machine or imported from Bystronic's offline programming software via USB or network.

The Xpert 250 is compatible with Bystronic's robotic bending cell solutions, including the ByBend Star automated bending robot, enabling integration into unmanned or minimally attended bending cells for high-volume repeat production.
