Overview

A 630 x 630 mm (24.8 x 24.8 in) pallet that carries 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) puts the AWEA AH-630 in the class of horizontal machining centers used for gearbox housings, pump bodies and machine castings. The work envelope is 1,020 mm (40.2 in) in X and 900 mm (35.4 in) in both Y and Z, and the largest part it swings is Ø1,020 / 1,000 mm (Ø40.2 / 39.4 in).

The load rating is more than double that of the AH-500, and it changes what the BBT50 spindle is for. On the smaller machine the 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor is generous. Here it is matched to the work. The standard spindle is direct drive at 10,000 rpm; the 6,000 rpm gear spindle that AWEA describes, with 705 N-m at 352 rpm, is the one to ask about for cast iron and steel roughing with large cutters and long boring bars. The magazine accepts tools 500 mm (19.7 in) long, which is what bores through a 900 mm cube from two sides need.

Axis speeds are 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) in X and Z and 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) in Y. AWEA describes a T-shaped one-piece base, double layer ribbed castings and linear guide ways 20% larger than standard on this model's structure.

The machine occupies 5,325 x 3,485 x 3,755 mm (209.6 x 137.2 x 147.8 in) and weighs 16,500 kg (36,376 lb). The work table sits 1,180 mm above the floor for loading. Two chip augers, a chip conveyor and a flushing system around the spindle and roof handle swarf.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the pallet size and load of the AWEA AH-630?

The table is 630 x 630 mm (24.8 x 24.8 in) and holds 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). The maximum workpiece is Ø1,020 / 1,000 mm (Ø40.2 / 39.4 in), diameter and height. AWEA states a pallet change time of 16 seconds for the series.

02 What are the travels of the AH-630?

X is 1,020 mm (40.2 in), Y is 900 mm (35.4 in) and Z is 900 mm (35.4 in). The spindle center ranges 50 ~ 950 mm (2.0 ~ 37.4 in) above the table top, and the spindle nose 200 ~ 1,100 mm (7.9 ~ 43.3 in) from the table center.

03 Is a gear spindle available on the AH-630?

AWEA says the AH series can be equipped with a 10,000 rpm direct drive spindle or a 705 N-m gear spindle. The gear spindle runs to 6,000 rpm with a 26 kW motor and delivers its maximum torque at 352 rpm. The specification table itself lists the direct drive version.

04 What B-axis options does AWEA describe for the AH-630?

The table lists a minimum index of 0.001°, achieved with a two-piece worm gear mechanism and a full circumference hydraulic brake. AWEA also describes a 1° clutch indexing table with a positioning accuracy of 8" and repeatability of 2", intended for heavy table loads.
