Index MS 32-6

The INDEX MS 32-6 is a six-spindle CNC automatic for bar up to 32 mm (1.3 in). Its main spindles are rated 10.5 kW at 100% duty and 19.0 kW at 25% duty, with 22 Nm and 40 Nm of torque on the same basis. The top speed of the main spindles is not stated consistently across the rows of the table, so ask INDEX for the figure that applies to the bar size and configuration being quoted.

Tooling is arranged as 6 radial and 6 axial slides, configurable per station, so each of the six positions can carry both a cross tool and an end-working tool. For the far end of the part there are 2 sub spindles at 8,000 rpm, rated 10 kW at 100% / 14 kW at 40% duty with 16 / 22 Nm. That is well under the 40 Nm of the main spindles, so heavy operations belong on the front end while the sub spindles take the lighter back-end work.

Control is the Siemens S840D sl. The machine weighs 7,200 kg (15,873 lb) and needs a 34-74 kW supply. For bar beyond 32 mm, the MS 40E takes 40 mm and lists 24 kW and 7,000 rpm. For small bar, the MS16C runs to 10,000 rpm on 10 Nm at 100% / 18 Nm at 25% duty, under half the torque of the MS 32-6, which shows where this machine sits: mid-size bar, with the torque for drilling and forming in steel rather than speed for very small diameters.
