HNK HKDB-150(1.2Mx8M)

The HNK HKDB-150(1.2Mx8M) is the heavy-spindle duplex boring machine. Each of its two heads carries a Ø150 spindle with a 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) motor, cont/30min, against the Ø130 spindles and 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp) of the HKDB-130(1.2Mx7M).

With two heads cutting together, that is a great deal of power applied to one workpiece. The point is not only speed. When both sides are rough-bored or face-milled at once, the cutting forces from the two heads oppose each other through the part, which helps on long sections that would otherwise push away from a single cutter. It asks more of the fixture and of the part's own stiffness between the two cuts, so clamping should be planned with HNK's applications staff.

The speed range is 5 to 2,000 rpm, a little lower than on the 130 models, on an ISO No.50 taper. Z travel is 650 mm (25.6 in), with 700 mm (27.6 in) in square brackets, and the spindle ends open from 300 to 1,600 mm (11.8 to 63.0 in), the widest gap in the series.

The table measures 1,200 x 8,000 mm (47.2 x 315.0 in), travels 8,000 mm (315.0 in) and carries 10,000 kg (22,046 lb). Head travel in Y is 2,000 mm (78.7 in). Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D are listed. A 9,000 mm table version exists as the HKDB-150(1.2Mx9M).
