GF Machining AgieCharmilles FORM X 600

The AgieCharmilles FORM X 600 is the large FORM X die-sinking EDM: 600 x 400 x 500 mm of X, Y and Z travel, a 900 l tank and a workpiece rating of 2000 kg on parts up to 1200 x 800 x 350 mm. It keeps the 0.05 μm Ra best finish of the smaller FORM X 400, so the step up buys size and load without giving up surface quality.

The 500 mm Z stroke and a table to chuck distance of 200-700 mm are what make this size useful for deep work. A tall mould plate can sit on the table with a long electrode above it, and the bath level reaches 390 mm to keep the cut submerged. Electrodes are rated to 50 kg, the same as on the FORM X 400, so the larger machine is about bigger and heavier workpieces rather than heavier electrodes.

GF builds the FORM X series on a mineral cast body with thermal management across the whole machine and a water-cooled electrical cabinet, aiming to hold accuracy over long multi-cavity jobs. The Micro Spark control board handles fine detail and sharp geometry. A Renishaw measuring probe is optional for coated parts, and SYSTEM 3R automation can be integrated for unattended production.

Installation needs planning. The machine weighs 5780 kg without dielectric and measures 2860 x 1790 x 3100 mm, so check the floor rating once 900 l of dielectric is added, and the clear height above 3100 mm. Within the current range, the AgieCharmilles FORM P 600 offers the same 600 x 400 mm table travels with 450 mm of Z, and the AgieCharmilles FORM P 900 goes to 900 x 700 x 500 mm for still larger moulds.
