Overview
The Flow Mach 200c is an entry-level abrasive waterjet cutting system from Flow International, the company that pioneered ultra-high pressure waterjet technology. It is positioned as a compact, affordable waterjet for job shops, prototyping houses, and educational institutions that need waterjet capability without the footprint or price tag of Flow's larger systems. It cuts virtually any material -- metals, stone, glass, composites, rubber, foam -- without heat-affected zones.
The machine operates at up to 60,000 PSI (4,137 bar) using Flow's EnduroMAX pump, an intensifier-style pump designed for continuous duty. The most common configuration offers a 1,300 x 1,300 mm (51 x 51 in) work envelope. Positioning accuracy is +/- 0.076 mm (0.003 in) with repeatability of +/- 0.025 mm (0.001 in).
Flow equips the Mach 200c with their FlowXpert software, a CAD/CAM package for waterjet cutting. FlowXpert handles part drawing to toolpath generation with built-in material databases that automatically calculate optimal feed rates, pierce parameters, and taper compensation. Operators without CNC experience can be productive within days.
The machine uses a single cutting head with a pneumatic Z-axis terrain follower that tracks the material surface to maintain consistent standoff distance. This matters because waterjet cutting quality degrades rapidly when the nozzle-to-workpiece distance varies.
Construction is welded steel frame with epoxy granite or steel tank options. The tank includes a built-in abrasive removal system and a water level control system that can submerge the cutting action to reduce noise from 95+ dB to around 75 dB.
New Mach 200c systems typically price between $100,000 and $175,000 depending on table size, pump configuration, and options. Operating costs run approximately $20-$30 per hour. The Mach 200c competes with the OMAX 2652, WardJet A-Series, and smaller Bystronic systems in the entry-level waterjet segment.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Cuts virtually any material including metals, stone, glass, and composites without heat-affected zones
- FlowXpert software is purpose-built for waterjet with material databases and optimized cutting parameters
- Compact footprint fits into existing shop layouts as a secondary cutting process
- Pneumatic terrain follower maintains consistent standoff distance over uneven material
- Built-in abrasive removal system reduces waterjet cleanup labor costs
- Flow's service network is the largest in the waterjet industry with broad parts availability
Limitations
- 60,000 PSI maximum pressure limits cutting speed compared to 87,000 or 94,000 PSI systems
- Single-head configuration with no multi-head productivity option
- Abrasive consumption adds $15-$25/hour in garnet costs alone
- Waterjet kerf width (0.8-1.2 mm) is wider than laser or wire EDM
- Smaller work envelope restricts maximum part size vs larger Flow models

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New systems price $100,000-$175,000. Operating costs run $20-$30/hour. Used machines (2018-2022) trade for $50,000-$100,000.
02
Virtually anything: metals, stone, glass, composites, rubber, foam, wood, plastics. Only tempered glass and diamonds cannot be cut. Up to 150 mm (6 in) thick on metals.
03
Both are entry-level waterjets. Flow uses an intensifier pump, OMAX direct-drive. Flow has a larger service network. Pricing is comparable. Choice depends on dealer support.
04
0.5-1.0 lb/min. At $0.25-$0.40/lb garnet, roughly $8-$24/hour. Abrasive is 50-60% of total operating cost.
05
Intensifier seal kits every 500-1,000 hours ($500-$1,500). Mixing tubes last 40-120 hours, orifices 40-80 hours. Regular tank cleanout needed.
06
Standard is 3-axis. Dynamic Waterjet XD head option adds 5-axis taper compensation and bevel cutting to 60 degrees ($30,000-$50,000 extra).
