Overview
The Mazak VARIAXIS C-700 is a CAT No.40 5-axis machining center with a Ø27.56 in (700 mm) × 19.69 in (500 mm) table and a B-axis range of -30° to +120°. Travels are 34 in (864 mm) in X, 24 in (610 mm) in Y and 21 in (533 mm) in Z, and the table carries 1,543 lb (700 kg). Mazak's series description says the tilting rotary table is supported at two ends and that roller gear cams on the B and C axes eliminate backlash.
Its nearest relative is the VARIAXIS C-600, which has 26 in (660 mm) of X and 22 in (559 mm) of Y on a Ø23.62 in (600 mm) × 19.69 in (500 mm) table with a 1,102 lb (500 kg) load. Z travel, spindle and rapids are the same on the VARIAXIS C-600 as here: 21 in (533 mm), 12,000 rpm and 1,654 ipm (42 m/min). The choice between the two is therefore about part diameter and weight.
