Overview

The Citizen Cincom M16-V is the standard multi-axis configuration of Citizen’s versatile 16mm M-series Swiss-type automatic lathe, delivering the full triple tool post architecture—gang tools, turret, and back tool post—without the B-axis angular machining capability of its M16-VIII sibling. For shops that produce complex small-diameter parts requiring maximum tooling flexibility but whose features fall within standard multi-axis reach, the M16-V provides the same core capability at a lower entry point.

The M16-V runs a 9-axis configuration (X1, X2, X3, Y1, Y2, Y3, Z1, Z2, Z3) with 12,000 RPM on both main and back spindles. Main spindle power is rated at 2.2/3.7 kW through a 20mm spindle bore, while the back spindle delivers 0.75/1.5 kW for secondary operations. Maximum machining length reaches 200mm per chucking. All three tool post systems feature rotary tools operating at 8,000 RPM.

The tooling count of 36+ positions across the three tool post systems gives the M16-V exceptional versatility for complex multi-feature parts. Gang tools provide speed on primary operations, the turret offers tool variety, and the back tool post handles comprehensive secondary work.

Citizen’s LFV chip-breaking technology comes standard, providing controlled chip breaking essential for reliable production in stainless steel, titanium, and engineering plastics. Rapid traverse rates vary by axis from 8 to 32 m/min. At 2,900 kg with a 1,150mm center height, the M16-V is a solid platform for 16mm precision Swiss turning.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does a Citizen Cincom M16-V cost?

A new M16-V typically runs $180,000-$260,000 depending on tooling configuration.

02 What is the difference between the M16-V and M16-VIII?

The M16-VIII adds a programmable B-axis (-45 to +90 degrees) for compound-angle machining. The M16-V has the same triple tool post without B-axis at lower cost.

03 How does the M16-V compare to the L12?

The M16-V adds a turret and back tool post, with 16mm bar standard and 200mm machining length vs 135mm on the L12.

04 Does the M16-V support guide-bushless?

Yes. Guide-bushless operation is supported for shorter parts.
