Overview
The TGS-CL-6020 is a CNC centerless grinder for parts from 3 – 120 mm (0.1 – 4.7 in) in diameter, built around a grinding wheel of 610 x 200 x 304.8 mm (24.0 x 7.9 x 12.0 in) and a 22 kW (29.5 hp) wheel motor. It is the one model for which Total Grinding Solutions publishes a specification table, and at 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) it is a production machine.
Both wheels are dressed under CNC. The grinding wheel has a two-axis dresser with a 250 mm (9.8 in) traverse stroke and a 150 mm (5.9 in) in-feed stroke, each with a least count of 0.001 mm, and TGS lists a two-axis CNC dresser for the regulating wheel as well. That matters for profiled infeed work, where the wheel form is the part form. The in-feed slide itself has 150 mm (5.9 in) of stroke, the same 0.001 mm least count and ±1° of swivel.
On the regulating side the wheel is 350 x 203 x 152 mm (13.8 x 8.0 x 6.0 in), driven through a worm gear over 10 – 300 rpm. Its motor row reads 2.2 kW (3.0 hp) / 1,500 rpm. The wheel tilts for thru-feed grinding, and its spindle has an outboard bearing support. The bed is cast iron, heat treated and stress relieved, with what TGS calls a honeycomb structure. A 30 kW (40.2 hp) grinding wheel motor is the listed option.
Fanuc is the standard control; Siemens, Allen-Bradley and Mitsubishi are optional. Balancing, coolant, mist collection, gaging and automation appear under machine options, so none of them should be assumed in a base machine. Plan the floor for 3,700 x 3,750 x 2,300 mm (145.7 x 147.6 x 90.6 in). The listed work length is 200 mm (7.9 in), which matches the wheel width, so longer bars are a thru-feed job with the long bar attachments TGS offers as an option.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table gives a diameter range of 3 – 120 mm (0.1 – 4.7 in) and a length of 200 mm (7.9 in). TGS lists long bar attachments among the machine options, and roller or belt conveyors for rods and bars among its automation options.
02
Fanuc is standard. The control system rows of the table list Siemens, Allen-Bradley and Mitsubishi as optional. The in-feed slide and both grinding wheel dresser slides are driven by feed servo motors, and each has a least count of 0.001 mm.
03
The grinding wheel is 610 x 200 x 304.8 mm (24.0 x 7.9 x 12.0 in), O.D. x width x I.D., with a minimum diameter of 390 mm (15.4 in). The regulating wheel is 350 x 203 x 152 mm (13.8 x 8.0 x 6.0 in) with a minimum diameter of 270 mm (10.6 in).
