Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Royal Master TG-12x8 Servo Cycle that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Royal Master TG-12x8 Servo Cycle puts programmable infeed on the wide-wheel platform: a grinding wheel 12 in diameter x 8 in wide (304 mm x 200 mm), a regulating wheel 8 in diameter x 8 in wide (200 mm x 200 mm) and a capacity of 0.002 in to 3.0 in (0.05 mm to 76 mm) in diameter. Royal Master describes it as two axis of CNC control behind a touch screen.
The width is the point. The TG-12x4 Servo Cycle stops at 1.5 in (38 mm) on wheels 4 in wide. This machine doubles both the part diameter and the wheel face, so it can take heavier thrufeed stock removal or a longer infeed form. Base spindle power rises with it, to 10 hp (7.5 kW) with 15 hp (11.2 kW) optional.
Royal Master built the spindles for that load. The grinding wheel spindle has 4 in (100 mm) diameter bearings, three sets of class 7 ABEC angular contact Timken bearings, and sits in a headstock with an outboard bearing. On the regulating side there is a 2.25 in (57 mm) spindle, servo driven over 0-500 rpm, and the maker quotes 170 foot pounds of continuous torque through a 10:1 gearbox. A granite machine bed is standard.
Control is a Parker PAC with a 10 in touchscreen. Rates and distances for the infeed cycle are programmable, as are load positions and grinding zones, and programs stay in the control for recall. Accuracy is listed at 0.00004 in (0.001 mm) with sizing increments of 0.00004 in (1 micron). Royal Master places the machine between its standard thrufeed grinder and the TG-12x8 Hi-Accuracy, whose sizing increments are 0.00001 in (0.25 micron). The ram here is a dovetail and gib system with Turcite ways. Weight is 3,800 lb (1,724 kg).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Grinding and regulating wheels 8 in wide on a machine that takes parts from 0.002 in to 3.0 in (0.05 mm to 76 mm)
- Two axis of CNC control with programmable infeed rates, distances, load positions and grinding zones
- Granite machine bed as standard
- Servo driven regulating wheel, 0-500 rpm, with 170 foot pounds of continuous torque and a 10:1 gearbox
- Grinding wheel spindle on 4 in (100 mm) diameter bearings with an outboard bearing for a twin grip design
Limitations
- Sizing increments are 0.00004 in (1 micron); the TG-12x8 Hi-Accuracy sizes in 0.00001 in (0.25 micron) increments
- At 3,800 lb (1,724 kg) it is heavier than the 2,500 lb (1,134 kg) TG-12x4 Servo Cycle, which matters when rigging it into a small cell
- Automatic dressing using templates is an option, not standard
- The 15 hp (11.2 kW) spindle motor is optional; the base motor is 10 hp (7.5 kW)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Royal Master lists 0.002 in to 3.0 in (0.05 mm to 76 mm) in diameter, for infeed and thrufeed grinding. The grinding wheel is 12 in diameter x 8 in wide (304 mm x 200 mm) and the regulating wheel 8 in diameter x 8 in wide (200 mm x 200 mm).
02
A Parker PAC control with a 10 in touchscreen. Royal Master describes two axis of CNC control: infeed rates and distances, load positions and grinding zones are programmable, and programs are stored in the control with a built in part library for recall.
03
The TG-12x4 Servo Cycle grinds 0.002 in to 1.5 in (0.05 mm to 38 mm) on wheels 4 in wide, with 7.5 hp (5.6 kW) and a weight of 2,500 lb (1,134 kg). The TG-12x8 Servo Cycle goes to 3.0 in (76 mm) on wheels 8 in wide, with 10 hp (7.5 kW), a granite bed as standard and a weight of 3,800 lb (1,724 kg). Both are rated at 0.00004 in (0.001 mm).
04
The table lists an accuracy of 0.00004 in (0.001 mm) and sizing increments of 0.00004 in (1 micron). In its description Royal Master says the dovetail and gib system with Turcite ways gives less than 2 micron repeatability while keeping the 1 micron round and straight capability.
