Citizen Miyano GN-3200W

The Citizen Miyano GN-3200W puts two complete chucking lathes on one base: a left and a right spindle, each running 80 - 8,000 rpm on a 2.2/1.5 kW motor (15-min/continuous), each served by its own horizontal linear turret. Per spindle it handles collet work up to 35 mm dia. and a maximum machining length of 50 mm.

The point of the twin layout is completing a part in two operations at one station. The left spindle can turn the first side while the right spindle finishes the second side of the previous part, so a finished part comes off each cycle and one operator or loader tends a single machine instead of two. It also works as two independent lathes running the same job, giving two parts per cycle from one footprint.

Each turret slide has 180 mm of travel in X1 and X2 and 200 mm in Z1 and Z2, and takes 10 mm Sq., 12 mm Sq. or 16 mm Sq. turning tools and 20 mm dia. drill shanks. Chucks are pneumatic: a 3" precision power chuck, with a 4" version as an option, or a 4" diaphragm chuck for parts that distort easily.

The machine needs 1,400 mm×1,477 mm of floor, stands 1,600 mm high with an 875 mm spindle centre height, and weighs 2,650 kg. Against two single-spindle Miyano GN-3200 machines, each on 700 mm×1,460 mm at 1,500 kg, the combined width is the same and the weight is lower.
